Woman Coders and the Gender Gap
Tiffanie Robinson will discuss the nationwide and local gender gap between women coders. Tiffanie will do an in depth discussion regarding the gender gap and what it means to the available workforce. She will explain how closing the gap will help cities and companies.
Mary Helen Miller will define CodeXX, what do they do and how they are helping women gain essential technology skills through a female based supportive environment.
Members of CodeXX will join the discussion to tell about their experience with CodeXX.
Tiffanie Robinson has a background in a variety of entrepreneurial endeavors alongside economic development. She is currently the Director of Operations at Lamp Post Group, and the founder of WayPaver, a talent innovation lab housed inside of LPG to solve the talent problems of the portfolio companies. Tiffanie lives in Chattanooga with her son, Elijah, and husband, Mike. She is a co-founder of the JumpFund, a founding member of Chattanooga’s Sandbox hub, is a Global Ambassador for the Thiel Foundation and serves on the boards of the Chattanooga Public Library, Girls Inc., and CauseWay. She loves karaoke, chocolate, traveling and Fleetwood Mac.
Mary Helen Miller is the founder of CodeXX, a women’s coding group in Chattanooga. She is also a multimedia journalist at the Chattanooga Times Free Press, where she was part of a team that was named as finalists for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize in Local Reporting. Before coming to the Times Free Press, she was a radio reporter at WUTC, where she won an Edward R. Murrow Award in 2013. She is a Chattanooga native and loves using digital media to tell local stories.
